Professor Folasade Tolulope Ogunsola, MBChB, MSc, PhD, FMCPath, FWACP
Provost College of Medicine at the University of Lagos, Nigeria

Professor Folasade Tolulope Ogunsola is currently the Provost College of Medicine at the University of Lagos, Nigeria. She holds an MB.CHB, Masters Degree in Medical Microbiology, a Diploma in Biomedical Techniques, and Doctoral Degree in Medical Microbiology. She is a fellow of both the National Postgraduate Medical College in Pathology and West African College of Physicians.

Professor Ogunsola has served the University of Lagos in different capacities on many committees. She is a member of senate and a member of the University of Lagos Council. She was a the Head of the Department of Medical Microbiology and Parasitology2009-2012, Director of the Medilag Consult (2009 to 2012); Since 2004 Professor Ogunsola has been involved in HIV prevention and is the Director, PEPFAR supported HIV Reference Laboratory since 2004, She was also the PI of the HIV prevention study of Sex workers on the Kuramo village in Lagos and Chairman Infection Control Committee of LUTH from 2007-2012. She was the Principal site investigator for the clinical trial of the  HIV microbicide 6% Cellulose Sulphate in Lagos between 2004-2007.

Outside the University of Lagos, Professor Ogunsola has served in various capacities nationally and internationally. She was the Chairman of the National Tuberculosis Laboratory Working Group   and is a member of the Management board of the Lagos University Teaching hospital, National hospital Igbobi Lagos and the National Psychiatrist hospital Yaba. She is a member of the WHO Technical Working Group on Infection Prevention and Control, member of the WHO AFRO Regional Rapid Response Group of Experts for Epidemics and member of the Global Infection Prevention and Control Network; She is also on the Board of Trustees oft K'arale, and the Foundation for Development Initiatives both of which are non governmental organisations involved in health in poor communities  and development respectively ; She is a member of the Medical and Dental council of Nigeria  and currently serves on the Councils tribunal. She is the current chairman of the National association of Colleges of Medicine.

Professor Ogunsola is a member of the Lagos University Medical Society, Association of Pathologists of Nigeria, Nigeria Medical Association, Medical Women's Association of Nigeria, Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria, Nigerian Infection Control Association, Nigerian Venereal Diseases Association, European Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, American Society for Microbiology, and Infection Control African Network. She is a recipient of many awards, scholarships, and research grants including: Federation of European Microbiological Societies Overseas Research Awards (1993), Keystone Symposia Global Health Travel Award (2010).

Professor Ogunsola has participated in and presented over 80 papers at national and international conferences and workshops, She has over 80 publications in learned journals  and books.  Her areas of interest include the control and prevention of infectious disease and antibiotic resistance, more recently she has become more involved in medical education. She is currently working in the prevention and management of sepsis both community and hospital acquired.
