Frontline Workers Respond to Ebola Outbreak in Uganda

December 12, 2012, Washington D.C. - Interim executive director and senior vice president for global health programs, Kelly S. Willis, guest blogged for the Frontline Health Workers Coalition, describing the stellar support IDI staff provided during the July Ebola outbreak in Uganda. The frontline workers, like IDI's Brenda Picho, were the first responders, working around the clock to provide the best care possible, while preventing the spread of the disease to others.

"[Brenda's] natural fear of this dangerous disease did not stop her and other health workers from putting their own lives on the line to protect the health and wellbeing of others. Brenda’s actions and those of her colleagues are a telling example of how frontline health workers benefit the communities in which they live and work, and ultimately play one of the most essential roles in emergency response," Kelly wrote. Brenda also chronicles the series of events in her own words. Click the links below to read more.
