West African Infectious Diseases Institute

Based in Abuja, Nigeria the West African Infectious Diseases Institute (WAIDI) is a multi‐institutional center of excellence for advanced research and training in Nigeria. A locally owned and autonomous institute, WAIDI brings together researchers and academicians from across the region’s universities to collaborate and innovate to address Nigeria’s most pressing infectious disease challenges.

WAIDI members can strategically integrate their faculty and resources to strengthen existing national capacity in health research and medical education. By augmenting their existing capacity through international linkages, including Accordia Global Health Foundation’s International Academic Alliance and partner universities from around the world, and through South-South collaboration, WAIDI aims to promote good policy and improved practice in the public and private sectors. Through world-class research and high-quality training, WAIDI is focused on transforming the national health system and ensuring better health outcomes for the people of West Africa.
