Inspiring Young Africans to Specialize in Infectious Disease
The Infectious Diseases (ID) Fellowship is a two-year fellowship for promising physicians wishing to specialize in infectious disease. It is comprised of 2-3 years of training in clinical infectious diseases, microbiology, diagnostic molecular biology, epidemiology, pharmacology, clinical study design and methodology and statistics, preparing the fellow for careers in academic infectious diseases as a teacher, investigator and clinical infectious disease specialist. At the end of the training, fellows will have achieved training equivalent to physicians in the US who are board eligible for American Board of Internal Medicine subsection in Infectious Diseases.
