Infectious Diseases Summit

Uniting for a Healthier World

Accordia Global Health Foundation’s annual Infectious Diseases Summit responds to the compelling need for international strategies and collaborations that build healthcare capacity in Africa in order to more effectively combat the immediate and long-term health and security threat posed by HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, and other infectious disease. The Summit convenes representatives from the most senior levels of academic medical schools, foundations and NGOs, developed and developing country governments, and the private sector. These individuals and the organizations they represent have both the will and the ability to implement large-scale, cross-sector initiatives to develop a new generation of healthcare leadership in Africa.

On April 15-16, 2010, Accordia Global Health Foundation will partner with the Infectious Diseases Institute of Makerere University and the Fogarty International Center at the US National Institutes of Health to host the Third Annual Infectious Diseases Summit in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This year's theme is Return on Investment: Building Healthcare Capacity in Africa. The meeting is designed to generate new ways to frame how we define impact and translate the global call to action as it relates to long-term capacity building programs by sharing best practices and providing a dynamic forum for innovative thinking. The 2010 Summit also builds upon a call to action from the 2009 Infectious Diseases Summit, the theme of which was Building Healthcare Leadership in Africa. Please click here for more information on the 2009 Summit and the resulting publication.
