An Invitation to Join Forces

It is universally acknowledged that one of today’s most pressing worldwide health challenges is the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

Currently, it is estimated that approximately 33.2 million people worldwide are living with HIV or AIDS. The Sub-Saharan region of Africa has been particularly hard hit. Of those now living with HIV worldwide, 70% of them – 22.5 million adults and children – reside in the Sub-Saharan region, with an additional 12 million children living as orphans because both parents have already died from the disease. In Sub-Saharan Africa, each and every day, HIV/AIDS kills nearly 5,000 men and women between the ages of 15 and 59 years old, along with nearly 1,000 of their children.

If allowed to continue on its current course, the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Africa - complicated by the spread of opportunistic diseases such as malaria and TB - will result in the devastation of the entire African continent when measured in lost lives, economic collapse, and political chaos.

Accordia Global Health Foundation has made extraordinarily rapid progress toward building a sustainable solution to improve the long-term quality of healthcare in Africa. This has been achieved by delivering a best practices model of prevention education, patient care, training, and research services. Now, new opportunities are emerging to expand Accordia’s impact within Uganda and into other African countries, allowing us to address the continuing needs of the HIV/AIDS epidemic and related infectious diseases.
