We Can Be Heroes

Accordia celebrated its fifth anniversary this year.  In those five short years, our dream has become a reality. We now have a regional center of excellence in sub-Saharan Africa focused on infectious disease training, research, care, and prevention, and our impact is expanding across the continent.

Accordia's programs are successful thanks to the many doctors, nurses, scholars, donors, patients, and others who have become part of our organization. They inspire and create change throughout Africa every day. In our 2008 Annual Report, we introduce you to some of these individuals. What they have in common is their passion for creating an Africa free from the burden of infectious disease. Some fight on the front lines of the battle against HIV/AIDS; others provide the resources desperately needed to eradicate it. Their collective and individual impact is causing a transformation across Africa, as the continent's healthcare systems are being strengthened from within. They are Africa's heroes.
